Cats in Summer / うちの子と夏

Last week wasn't like this at all... All of the sudden, it gets soooo hot from a couple days ago.
"Summer" finally started... I don't really like summer, this heat, and sweat. But what the most thing I need in my apartment is "Air Conditioner"... I've been living in this apartment in Los Feliz for over 10 years now and I've never desired to have AC. I have 2 ceiling fans in Living Room, and Bed Room, and I think that's enough even though it gets 90-100F. I can handle without AC. It just costs so much money, and not good for environment anyways. However, when I see my cats panting sometimes (not this year yet), I reconsider if I should get AC or not... I know cats can control their body heat along with the temperature but my friend, Ernie says it's pretty bad when cats get panting... My solution for their panting: putting cold wet towels on their body even though they don't like it! The pic above is last night... They tried to cool them down with cool floor in the bathroom.


やってきました、暑い夏が！今日は99F（＝37度）。先週はそんなことなかったのに、急に暑くなりました。平日は外が暑くてもオフィス内がACガンガン効いているせいで寒くて毛布を全身巻きながら仕事をしてますが、家にはACなんてありません。このロスフェリツのアパートにはもう10年ぐらい住んでますが、シーリングファンがリビングと寝室に１個づつ付いているから、ACは欲しいと思ったことないです。お金掛かるし、環境にも悪いと思って。でもうちの猫ちん達がたまーに「はぁ、はぁ、はぁ」としている時はさすがにかわいそうだな．．．って思ってAC買ったほうがいいのかなーってたまに思うけど．．．多分今年も買わないんだろうなー。ごめんよー。
お詫びの代わりと言っちゃーなんですが、ブログに一度も載っけたことがないので、ここで塩崎家のうちの子自慢写真集を公開します♪

They found some kind of bug last night. Both of them, well, especially Nash was trying to get this bug out so hard which was outside of the screen... Olie was just watching Nash what he does.

昨晩、このふたり何かを見つけて「け、けけ、にゃ、にゃ」と言ってました。悪ガキナッシュの方が取れるはずもない網戸の外にいる虫に対して手で攻撃。やっぱり取れません．．．。ばかだね、あんた。。。

私のこと無視してるのかと思ったら、急にかわいいポーズを自分からしてきた！寝てるのかと思ったんだけどねー。サービス精神大盛りのなっしゅくんです。







His hobby is catching a toy-mouse. When I throw it, he always brings it to me... well、most of the times when he feels like it.

なっしゅの趣味はおもちゃのねずみを追いかけること。私が投げればほとんど私のもとへ持って来てくれます。「いつも」私の元へ持って来てくれれば遊ぶのもちょっとは楽なんですが、もー猫だから気ままに好きなところおいちゃうもんで、結局私が取りに行ってあげる．．．みたいな。



This is Olive. She is 11 years old this year. She has been with me since I moved to this apt and of course, she has been through so many things with me.
こっちがオリーブ。もう11歳になります。このアパートに私が引っ越ししてから一緒にいるからもう私がやってきたこと、全て一緒に見て来てる。もうライフタイムパートナーだね。かわいいおばーちゃんです。







Her hobby is sleeping, eating, sleeping and eating. And heater in winter time. She loves to eat bonito flakes, seaweed sheets and corn (I just found it today).

オリーブはもうとにかく寝るのと、食べることが一番好き。冬はヒーターが好き。好きな食べ物はかつおぶし、海苔、それにとうもろこし（今日発見）。







Lately, she gets annoyed by taking pics. Maybe my fault that I take so many of them. LOL...

なっしゅはそうでもないけど、最近のオリーブは写真取られるの好きじゃないみたい。いやがります。









こうやってみるとオリーブの方がやっぱりでぶちんだから目もちょっと朝青龍っぽくなってきたかも．．．。ダイエットしような、オリーブ。
っていうか、なっしゅもおしり、でかっ！

I just found this on my RSS feeder. It's called
"Homestar Spa". They will start selling this in Tokyo, Japan in September 2008. This Sega Toy brings you an universe to your bathtub. You can enjoy stars if they were like in the sky!
Isn't that cool? Well, if you get bored with stars in the sky-ceiling, you can switch it to different setting lights up with floral or fish. The price will be around $70 in Japan. Damn, I want it!!

Ecology Quiz / エコクイズ

As usual, I was net surfing in this morning at my office, and I always get some newest info about web design and technology from a Japanese PHP RSS website. And one of the today's topics was "21 Incredibly Creative Flash Websites - Down the Foxhole". The Flash, and Action Script's techiniques are getting higher and higher by the day goes by... and I am trying to reach some point of using Flash but the goal to be a master of Flash is just so far away for me. I am not giving it up but it's just so tough using Action Script to make images the way I want it to manupulate...

One of the Flash Website that the site introduced was http://www.nationalgridfloe.com/ . It lets you play with polar bears and at the same time you learn about Ecology. You can give the little polar bear a name too. I know I will get attached to this little one "Buhi Chan" for a while... But not only I can play with Buhi Chan, and learn about Ecology, I was just amazed how this Flash is well-built.

いつものごとく、毎朝30分ぐらい仕事始めにネットサーフをする私ですが、いつもウェブデザインのテクなどを拾ってくるサイトで今日のお題の一つは「信じられないほどクリエイティブなフラッシュサイト集」。一番上に載ってたサイトなんですが、こんな面白いサイトを見つけました。

このサイト、白熊親子と遊べると同時にエコ問題について楽しく学べちゃうサイトです。遊べるのも学ぶのも結構イケてるんですが、もっとなにがイケてるかというとフラッシュ!　フラッシュのテクがすごいなーとつくづく感心してしまいます。
ちなみに、白熊の子供には「ぶひちゃん」って名付けました♪　ぶひちゃんと遊んであげるためにはちゃんとエコ問題を分かって、クイズに正解しないとおもちゃももらえないし、ごはんももらえない！ちゃんとその横にはヘルスチェックもあってどのくらいぶひちゃんが今健康かっていうのも分かります。親のほうはどうやって遊ぶのかはまだちょっと分からないですが、ちょっくら後でやってみようかな。ちょうどまきぷーのブログにもエコについて書いてあったね。皆エコを意識してがんばってるのは偉いよね！

私もがんばらねば！！ これって皆でこみゅとか作れたらもっとおもしろいかもね★　「うちの子自慢」ができるのにー！笑
英語苦手な人にはちょっと申し訳ない…。でも優しい英語だと思うから、英語の勉強もかねてエコを学んじゃぉっ！
皆どこまで小熊ちゃんと仲良くなれたか教えてー。私はぶひちゃんを運動させるところまで行けたよーー。

First time I saw Russell Brand on the Live Nation mail magazine, I totally thought this guy was a musician. Either American Hard Rock or Alternative Rock vocalist who I probably won't be interested in. Though His face got pretty strong impression that I can't forget about.

One night, I went to see a movie "Forgetting Sara Marshall" by myself since I heard it was pretty funny. And this guy showed up as a world-famous English rock star and a boyfriend of Sara Marshall in the movie. I was like "oh I know this guy from the Live Nation thing..."
As I watch more of this movie, I realize he is a pretty funny guy. But I still thought he was a musician...

Anyway, I got to know he was a English comedian at the Jay Leno Show, I just had to see his live show at the Roxy tonight (yea, again I was at the Roxy...). After he made us all the audience for 2 hours, he finally showed up and started his machine-gun talk with a British accent.

Meguppe, Chiaki and I were trying hard to understand what he talks about. It was a good challenge. I think we understood about 70%? of his talk... I thought I underestimated his skills because of how he looks, bohemian type of looks though he is actually a brilliant man. I was impressed by his contents of talks.

顔が超強烈、でも誰？ミュージシャン？とLive Nationというイベントメルマガで思ったのがかれこれ１ヶ月前。
でもどーせ私は興味ないような音楽やってるんだろうなーと格好をみて思ってました。誰、これ？．．．
彼の名はRussell Brand. イギリスのコメディアンです。私が初めて彼を見たのはそのメルマガでしたが、気になり始めたのは、40-year-old Virginなどを手がけた監督が作った「Forgetting Sara Marshall」。超ーー面白いって聞いて一人で観に行っちゃいました。そしたらこのRussell Brandが出てるじゃないの！「あ、こいつ！」と思ったらなんかハマって来ちゃって．．．。で、違う理由でThe Roxyのサイトを見てたら、この人が来米、ライブをここでやるということを知って．．．めぐっぺとちあきちゃん達を誘って観に行っちゃった訳です。 でも開場もしくは公演スタート時間6時半って書いてあるからその通りに行ったのに、2時間待たされるハメに…。もうRoxyってどこまで時間ルーズなの…。やーーーっと8時半にあの爆発ヘアに海賊みたいな衣装で現れたRussellは期待通り観客をちょっといじりながらトークを開始（やじを飛ばしてたイギリス人観客が追い出されるというハプニングも）。でもこいつのトークは速い、速い。ブリティッシュアクセントとこのマシンガントークが合わさると、最初は一生懸命集中して聴いて面白いのですが、途中で疲れてぼーーと違うことを考えてる！おっとと、いけない、いけないと思い即また集中開始．．．。分かるところは面白いけど、超スピードが速いところは面白い、面白くない超えてまたぼーーーー．．．。
でも彼の頭はこの爆発ヘア、ハードロックなのか海賊みたいなのか分からないような服装より賢そうです。あの考えるスピードは目を見張るものがあった。まーセックスとかの下ねた系多かったけどね。
まー皆さんも機会があったらYoutubeとかで見てみて。
いやーでも、このブリティッシュアクセント、いいねーーーー。好き♪

Father's Day/父の日

For Father's Day, I didn't know what to give to my dad like always, and usually I spend too much on thinking and I give him something I find online after all because it's quicker. I always think the thought can count even though what I give him not matter what though at the same time, I always feel like I've been giving him "whatever". I don't mean to give him without my thought though.

However, last month, my dad told me that his country western band "Drifting Daddies" was interviewed on the local newspaper. I was pretty excited that this is actually happening on him. I told my friends about this and one of them told me I should make his website. That was a brilliant idea, thanks to Jun! So, I spent one weekend to create this site. And since I made it, I want it to show up on Google, and Yahoo search engine too. I got obsessed and I even registered this domain name to both sites. But... it doesn't show up on 1st page yet! What's going on? I know it will take a week or so to be affected but it spent over a week already... Hmmm... Can any of you bookmark his website, please?

父の日っていつも何あげようかなーーっていつも考えて考えて考えて、、、考えて終わる傾向にあるのが毎年の傾向です。考えすぎちゃって結局はオンラインで父が好きそうなお酒とかグルメなごはんものを楽天で探してそれを父の日ぎりぎりになって送ったり、たまに父の日過ぎて送られちゃったり．．．。結構プレゼントに対してルーズになってしまう私ですが、今回はちゃんと間に合ったようです。

先月、父のカントリーバンド「Drifting Daddies」が逗子のローカル新聞に掲載されたことを父から知って、それを友人達に告げたらそのうちの一人、じゅんちゃんが「パパのサイト作ってあげたら？」と超最高なアイデアをくれたので早速実行に移してみました。まずはマテリアル探さないとと思って、妹に連絡。妹に写真があったらなんでも送ってーと言ってみたのですが、やっぱり写真入手はちょっと難しかったみたい．．．。でもがんばって３枚見つけてくれました！この秘密プロジェクト、案外早く作れて１週間以内に作れちゃったかな。でもこれ、検索エンジンにも引っかかるように色々工夫をしてみたんだけど、まだ現れて来ない．．．。ちょっと皆ブックマークして〜！
グーグル、ヤフー両方に登録もしてみたんだけどなー。１週間以上立ってるのに、なぜ出て来ない！？　SEOは難しい！

Ah, btw, this is how I sent to my dad. If my gift is handmade, I want my card to be handmade too. :)　I just stamped "Happy Father's Day" on a cooking sheet, and sealed with red thread on a grocery paper bag. A card inside... I just bought it. Sorry I forgot to take a pic of inside.

←こうやってパパにカードを送りました。ギフトが手作りなら、カードも手作りにせんとね☆ 中のカードは買ったけど、外側のこのカバーは普通にスーパーでもらう茶色の袋をはさみで切ってカードをくるんで赤い糸で縫いました。
Happy Father's Day! って書いてある紙はクッキングシートを使った．．．。
34にもなって手作りかーと思ったけど、ま、いっかー。

もうすでにこのカード、手元に届いたようで、見たよ！っていうメールが入ってました。なので、
早速今日、日本時間ではもうすでに日曜日なので、父に電話。朝の７時だったのにもう起きてて、サンディエゴで行われてるゴルフのUSオープンをテレビで見てたそうな。
超喜んでくれて皆にメールをしてくれたみたい。ライブの日にも宣伝するって言ってました☆
良かった、喜んでくれてーー。ふー。

Like about 2 days ago, my friend, Arndt from Germany who I have been corresponding with for 16 years just sent me a package - CDs. I opened it wondering what the occasion was, and just couldn't think of any... but as I read his letter, it was just a gift with no reason. That was nice.
Lately, I found out he got a same taste of music as I do. This is one of the happy elements to be connected with friends much deeper. I don't know how he thinks about this, but for me MUSIC is one of the most important elements to be connected with people. IF you like same type of music as I do, you are my friend already! haha :)

先日、18の時から「文通」をしている友達、ドイツ人のアントから小包が届いてて、なんか特別な日でもあったっけねーなんて思いながら開けたらなんとCDが２枚も入ってました。手紙を読んでると私が彼の誕生日の時にCDをプレゼントしたからそのお返しみたい。なんて優しいんでしょう．．．。最近知ったのは彼の音楽の趣味と私のが超似てるということ。私の中では「音楽」は人とつながるのに一番大切な要素だと思っていいくらい重要なものです。だから初対面でも音楽の趣味が合っちゃえばもう私達はお友達！笑　やっぱりヘビメタとかカントリー（親の趣味抜かす）とか悪気があって言ってる訳じゃーないけど、音楽のお話は合いませんな。ごめんね。

彼が今回くれたのはサントゴールドのデビューアルバム（セルフタイトル）。彼女はNYはブルックリン出身。

I knew her already from about a month ago since Midori, and Mike introduced me to her music on the exact same day! I was like "damn, if she is THAT good, I gotta listen". But it took me a bit to like her music since her music goes to kinda electronica, reggae, to rock. I didn't know what to expect her. You know whose her music reminds me of? M.I.A., and Amy Winehouse. Sometimes her rhythms gives me M.I.A. type of impression, and her voice reminds me of Amy Winehouse. But as you listened more, you crave her music more. This is a cool album. My favorite song is "Creator".

みどりとマイクの紹介で知ったサントゴールド。もう約１ヶ月ぐらい前（丁度このアルバムが出た頃）、同じ日にこの２人がサントゴールドの音楽がいいよーと教えてくれたので、こんなに勧められるだったら聴かなきゃと思ったのがきっかけ。M.I.A, Amy Winehouseを思い出させる曲の作り方、声の出し方、しかも音楽のタイプが色んな方向に行く！一つのラベルに絞り込むことが出来ず「なんだこれ、、、まとまってないなー」って最初は思ったのですが、
何回も聴いて行くうちになんか癖になる！結構いいです。一つのラベルに絞り込むことない、多彩な彼女です。
私のお気に入りな曲はCreator.

And 2nd CD Arndt gave me was Tokyo Police Club (Ontario, CANADA)'s "Elephant Shell」.
で、２枚目はTokyo Police Clubの「Elephant Shell」TPCはカナダ、オンタリオ出身。

I knew this band too, and actually I was looking for their live show in Los Angeles, which I missed a day difference or something. I love their 1st Album "A Lesson in Crime". Their sound is so strong but then it makes my feet dance.
I heard they got an influence from the Strokes. Yea, I could get a bit of the Stroke sounds from there. And how the vocalist, Dave Monks' voice is kinda similar to Julian Casablanca (I love his name!)too. Probably these guys will be pretty big in the future. Before that moment, I want to see them in a live! Hurry, and come back to Los Angeles!

TPCも結構前から知ってました！最初のデビューアルバム「A Lesson in Crime」は今回のと違って、もっと強く、またぐいぐいと引っ張ってくれる感じの仕上がりになっていて、最初から聴いた途端、「好き！」。
今回のアルバムはちょっとおとなしめに出来上がってます（と最初は思ったんだけどちと３回目聴いたらちょっと違ってきた！）。でもまた違う味を出してくれているので、違うTPCの面も見れた感じです。あ、ちょっとDeath Cab for Cutieにも似てる？？違うか．．．。
でももっともっとたくさん聴く価値ありだと思う。噛めば噛むほど味がでてくる。。。っていうじゃないですかー。これだね、きっと。こいつらきっと大きくなるんだろうなー。期待の星だね！ またロスに来ないかねー。

I just came back from the live show of Crystal Castles at Roxy on Sunset Blvd.

OMG, that was the most craziest show I have been to in this few years.... This show was SOLD OUT and obviously it was soooo paked with too many people.
I was kind of center in the crowd and people were jumping all over, pushing all over and sometimes they were about to fall on me. My feet was stepped on and hurt a bit at the end of the show...

今晩、めぐっぺ、まゆみん、みどり、＆ささっきーとRoxy でのCrystal Castles のライブに行ってきた！
最近ライブばーーっかり行ってるけど、今晩のショーはめちゃくちゃくれいじーーーーー！前の方で見たかったから陣取っていたら予定より40分も遅れてCrystal Castles 登場（前回はボーカルが気分屋で１曲しか歌わず退場。イベントがいきなりキャンセルされ、その分の人たちも今晩来たみたい）。もうボーカルのアリスはめちゃくちゃドラッグでハイ！歌いながらステージで転ぶわ、人だかりにジャンプしてマイクのコードで観客の首しめちゃうわ（めぐっぺの報告によると）、、、ひどかったー！
私の周りでもがんがん踊って、押されて、押し返して、盛り上がりすぎて足まで踏まれて結構盛り上がり方に不健康さを感じるライブでした。アンコールもやってたけど、もうバンドが１回引っ込んだと同時にうちらは会場からでてきちゃった．．．。疲れた．．．。金曜日も行くことになってるけど、どうしようか、、、とちょっと迷ってるところです。でも音楽は良かったww。盛り上がり方が凄すぎたけど音楽は超のりのり、最近「流行り」とされているElecrtonicaともちょっと違った感じの音楽です。一応分類しちゃえばElectronicaだけどね。
