Friendly Fires + Hockey @ Troubadour

Friendly Fires came to give us an energized performance again!! This time was at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. One of my favorite venues!
They came to perform with Hockey (from Portland, Oregon) and this band is not bad at all! I love their sound.

I thought Friendly Fires showed us more powerful performance this time than last time at the Spaceland. They sung, danced (Ed - vocalist- was shaking his butt really good lol), sweated, spitted while singing and blew snot like a crazy. haha My friend, Gabu chan and I were so close to the stage that we thought we would get Ed's sweat and spit all over on us... You had to be there to see this crazyness.

We had a lot of fun and got to listened and enjoyed the new version of "Paris" too.

I can't forget about Hockey. I posted their official Youtube page. You should check the song "Too Fake". It's pretty good. You shouldn't miss out this band!


Friendly Firesがまたやって参りました！！今回のベニューは私の好きなWest HollywoodにあるThe Troubadourです。本当に私はここが大好き！結構小さいベニューだし、アーティストが自分の横でビール買ってるみたいな！普通に友達とリラックスしてるみたいな！ボーカルのEdがわっせわっせ仲間のためにビールを運んでる姿見て、一瞬話しかけたかったけど、一生懸命な顔してたからテンパってるのかも。。と思い、止めておきました。ちょっと残念。でもそれだけちっちゃなベニューなんです！

いや〜、今回は前回のSpacelandよりももっとパワフルにエネルギッシュなパフォーマンスをしてくれました。腰ふりふりダンスあり、汗びっちゃり飛び散りあり、つばぺっぺあり、鼻水まで飛ばしてましたからね〜。迫力があって驚き、ちょっと引き、、、つつ、、やっぱり良いからノッちゃいましたね。ふふ。最後まで楽しかった〜！
しかも、「Paris」の新しいバージョンをお披露目してくれました。途中からいつもCDで聴いてるのと全く違く、、、でもいいーー！ビデオで録画してればなー。お見せできたのに。。。

オープンニングバンド、Hockeyも超いい！これはめっけもんです。ぜひぜひ聴いたことのない人は聴いてみて！（"Too Fake" 好き！）ボーカルの歌い方がStrokesのJulian Casablancasとか若い時のRod Stewartに似てるって思うのですが、、、私だけ？ショーの後でファンの人とおしゃべりしたり、サイン上げたり、、、このバンドのサービス精神も◎！Friendly Firesのショーもちゃんと最後まで見てました。このバンド、注目したいです！

Ratatat @ Hollywood Palladium

Ratatat!! I missed you guys! This is my 4th time to see their show and they never betray my expectation. :) However, if I can complain, I have to admit that the regulation of Hollywood Palladium sucked after their renovation... like Henry Fonda... :(
We couldn't bring a camera, no pictures this time... :( , we were supposed to get a wrist band in order to see them closely or just being on the main floor (well, we were too late to get one..). So if anyone who has a plan to go to Hollywood Palladium to see a show, GET THERE EARLY! and get a wrist band. ;)

Anyway, back to Ratatat. This time, they played without the keyboard-the-poodle (look at my blog on July 14th, 2008) but they did good without him. They mixed songs evenly from both albums "Classiscs" and "LP3". That was great show. They were great on playing, and I felt so much energy however... not much talking. Maybe they said "Thank you!" for a few times and "Hold on sec. My guitar broke... I have to fix it...". I don't want the artist to talk on and on and on... but I want to hear a bit of them, you know? And if they don't arrange something much on their music just for the show, I feel like I should've stay home and just listen to my CD. :P
But the whole energy that I feel at the floor from artists and audiences... this is PRICELESS. ;)

I love their music.. their sound is so addictive, I want to listen to them more and more. I don't know what it is but I just can listen to their music over and over. Probably they use a lot of mid-tone.

This word "mid-tone" is a huge keyword for me based on music. No matter what kind of music that is, I just love "mid-tone". Sharp, flat... half up and half down.. Those tones are awesome, and make me... um.. emotional.. hehe.

Ratatatがまた来ましたよ〜〜！今度はHollywood Palladiumです。改築してから初めて行ったのですが、綺麗になってました。でも。。。ルールが多すぎて嫌！！カメラは持ち込めないし（なので今回は写真なし。。。iPhoneでこっそりと撮ってみたけどぶれて何んだか分かんない、、）、メインフロアーでステージに近く行きたかったらリストバンドを早く行ってゲットしないと行けないし。。。うちらはそんなの知らなかったから10時半ぐらいに行ってもちろんそのバンドなし！泣　だから1階のバルコニーから見るはめに。。。悲しかったー。遠いんだもん。なのでHollywood Palladiumに行く予定のある方は早めに行く事をお勧め致します〜。

ま〜ま〜、そんなこんなでもちゃんと楽しめたRatatatのショー。今回も良かった〜〜。今回は今まで一緒にやってきたプードル頭のキーボードプレイヤーは（7月14日のブログを見てね）いなくて、２人オンリーでがんばってた。でも「Classics」と「LP3」の両方のアルバムから均等に出す感じで熱演してました。他にもちらりと知らない曲が２曲ぐらい出て来てたんだけど、新曲か？？それとも昔のアルバムからで私が知らないとか。。。

でもRatatatはいつ聴いても、何回聴いても癖になる〜。リピートを何十回回しても全然飽きないし、その反対にもっと聴きたくなる！これはどうして？？多分それは、、、半音をめちゃくちゃたくさん出してるからではないでしょうか。半音フェチの私としてはもうよだれが出るほど、これでもかこれでもかっていうぐらい半音を出しまくってる！しかもシンセエレクトロの中にちょろっとクラシックロックとフレンチポップのエッセンスを入れてみました的な音楽だからもっといいんですね。きっと。あ〜もっと生で聴きたい〜〜！Hollywood Palladiumはちょっと大きいな。
The Troubadourみたいな小さなベニューでやってくれたら本当に最高なのにな〜〜。

It has been... um... Hmm..? I didn't even write about this band "Gliss" last time I saw them at the Spaceland in February...

I think how I found this Los Angeles based, local band, Gliss was just really coincidence... I was looking up for another band, it led me to the Echoplex Myspace page and then I found Gliss there. I fell in love with it and passed the link to Meg as usual. Their sound reminds me of My Bloody Valentine, in early-90s era. I love this sound.

Actually, the vocalist of Gliss, Martin sounds like sometimes a girl... (hehe, sorry!) As I listened to the songs from Myspace, I started to like those couple songs and I was waiting to hearing them at stage which sounded like female vocalist was singing. I totally thought another member, Victoria's voice.. and I expected her to sing at night, but she didn't. I was dissapointed and when I bought their 1st CD "Love the Virgin" and met Virginia at bar, I told her what I thought of the night. She was such a nice lady but she didn't know what I was talking about because all of their songs were sung by another member, Martin! haha

This time they promoted their new CD "Devotion Implosion". I like both of their CDs but I may prefer this new one . I like their beat and easy to remain in my head. Very catchy too, I think.

All of them were pretty cool people. They gave me some casual chit chat with us, and autographs. And we got to know they might be in London when we are going to be there. I am very excited if I can get to see them in overseas!

ロサンゼルスベース、ローカルバンドのGlissをまたSpacelandにて観に行って来ました！「また」と言っても前回の書いてない！このバンド、どうやって発見したのかあまり定かではないですが、確かthe EchoplexコンサートベニューのMyspace ページを見てた時に発見したのかな。。。色んなバンドの中に混じって１曲だけ入ってて。。。そんな感じで知って、フォールインラブです。そしてリンクをいつものごとくMegに渡し。。。といういつものパターン。

彼らの音は９０年代初期のMy Bloody Valentineに似てるかな。この辺の時期のブリティッシュ系インディーロック、私は大好きですから、もうすぐに聴いてぞっこんです。は〜なんていいんでしょう、このギターの音。ほれぼれします。

しかし、このボーカルの声、ハスキーな女性の声にたまに聴こえる。。。男性２人(Martin and Dave)、女性１人(Victoria)で構成されてるから絶対にこの女性が歌ってるのかと思ったら！全部男の声だった！もはや私はMartinが歌ってるって分かったからどの歌が女性の声に聴こえるか。。。って忘れちゃったけど、最初に初めて女性のメンバー（後にVictoriaと分かる）と話した時、「あなたの歌聴きたかったー」って言ったらきょとんとされたの覚えてる。。。笑　

今回は新CD「Devotion Implosion 」のプロモーションでライブ。またその新CD買った際、サインもおねだりして。ふふ（お前いくつかよ！）ボーカルのMartinもきさくで色々と話してくれ、終いには私達が今夏ロンドンへ行くと同じ時期に彼らもいるということが発覚！ちょっとちょっと〜〜！これは会えるんではないの？るんるん♪　写真はまたiPhone。。カメラがどこに行っちゃったか分かんなくなった〜〜。。。（後で超デスクの横にあったこと発見。。てへっ！）

AWESOME Show - Simian Mobile Disco

OMG... I've never been to such an awesome, unbelievable show ever in my life like this...
I can call their show "Amazing, Best show 2009!" Well, 2009 only has been 3 months but... hehe. The Synthesizers that they brought was so different from other DJs I've seen also.
You have to check out the Youtube below but they said that they brought their own mixer, synthesizers, keyboard etc... all the equipments from their studio to the stage. I couldn't see what was going on there even though I was at the 1st row... I see they are playing with keyboard, and some back of the PC-ish thingy... I was like "what are they doing with it...?". They are turning around the table so then they can take turn and play different installment/equipment in roll. Now I know what they did on the stage!
But the sound they created were so simply amazing. I was waiting for them to come to Los Angeles for a long time, and now they have. They totally satisfied my needs, desire, and expectations. I give 100 thumb-ups! haha

The only thing I didn't like was Henry Fonda theatre/venue... All of the sudden, they set up some weird Fire hazard regulation because the fire marshal randomly came and warned them last Saturday (they had to cut middle of the Cut Copy show! I would be soooo mad if I were there!). When I stepped out for bathroom, the door was closed. I tried to go in and the security said 'Sorry, you can't go in right now because of the capacity. When some people go out, some of you can go in!" Huuuhhh??? WTH are they talking about? We already paid for the ticket. You know how many people are going to be there. The number of capacity is over means SOLD OUT show! They've never done this type of thing before. Luckly, someone came out from another door which the security wasn't watching, so I got to sneaked in... otherwise, I couldn't see the SMD show at all!! One of my friends didn't get to go in, and had to watch from 2nd floor... sucks.. Some mad riot could happen! They need to do something with this stupid regulations.

Simian Mobile Discoのショー行って来ましたよーーーー！これは最高中の最高です！２００９年、まだ３ヶ月しか経ってないけど、ベストですね、これは！これを越えるショーは多分ありえんと思う。めちゃくちゃ良かった！何が良かったかというと、通常自分のラップトップ、キーボード、ドラムなど持ってくるDJって多いけど、こいつらは色んな種類のシンセサイザー、自分のスタジオにある機械をぜーーーーんぶ持って来ちゃったんです！（って、知ったように書いたけど、めぐっぺが送ってくれたYoutubeに載ってた。てへっ！）音楽のMIXの仕方も面白かったし、もうノリノリの音楽をずっと提供してくれたよ。あーーー！もーーまた行きたい！月曜日の夜だというのにめちゃくちゃもっと観たかった。結構首を長くして待った介があったわーー。次回はまだ先まで来ないのかなー。

でもね。。。このベニュー、Henry Fondaは今回最悪だった。。。この間の土曜日ここでCut Copyのショーがあったんですが、いきなり抜き打ちテストで消防署が来たらしいんです。
で、思いっきり規定を守っていなかったFondaは罰金を食らったらしく（しかもショーの途中で中止。もーー！Cut Copy来てくれなくなっちゃうよ！）、そこからまじめに守ろうとしてるのは分かるのですが、その守り方があほ！手際悪いし、うちらチケット買ってもうすでに中入っているのにも関わらず、定員人数いっぱいだからといってアーティストがいる会場に入らしてくれない。。。はーー？？ちょっとちょっと。。。定員人数いっぱいってことはチケットがSOLD OUTになった時じゃないの？？ちょーあほだよ、これ。私もトイレ行った時に閉め出されそうになってドアの前で音楽がなってるのに５分ぐらい待たされ、運良くセキュリティーが見てなかったドアからこっそり入っちゃいました。これでちゃんとショーを見れたのですが、他の友達は2階で優雅に飲んでたりしてたから閉め出されたままでショーを目の前で見れず。。。Riotが起きそうになった！って言ってました。。。この規定ってやつ、もうちょっと上手く守ろうよ。。。

Pink Panther - Cartoon-

Don't know why but I got this urge to get a Pink Panther Cartoon DVD last night...
I just remembered I watched it with my family when I was a kid.
Before I went to Arclight to see "Coraline", I stopped by Amoeba to see if they have
any. When I was there last time they didn't have any, but I found a complete collection this time. :) I love 60s-70s cartoon and just make me feel warm to remember my family and I laughed together while we watched it.

なぜか昨晩アニメ版のピンクパンサーが見たくて映画「Coraline」を観に行く前にレコード屋アメーバに行って探しちゃいました。前回、アメーバで探した時はなかったのに、今回はあった、あったww　しかもコレクション版。　このピンクパンサー、良くうちの家族と一緒に笑いながら観てたよな〜。懐かしい〜。最近のアニメとかあんまり興味ないけど、こういう60−70年代のアニメって大好き。

The Twelves @ Avalon

We (ahh.. of course it's Meg! lol) went again to see the Twelves now at the Avalon Hollywood. The last time at Dragonfly was their first time, but now their fan/audiences got much much bigger. They played from around 12ish to 1:30am in the morning... For whole an hour and a half, they played such a great mix for non-stop!! My god, our legs were tired but it was worth it.
They just really know how to make us dance with up beats for all night! I just love them so much.

We talked to them before the show (we talked to one of the left in the pic), he was really friendly and he was like "hey!" and hugged us! We asked if they have any CDs out. Their answer is... "NO"! Ohhh come on, Twelves! You have to have it by now. They said it's ok to have their music for free online so then it's easier to spread the words (for now...). They are such cool people to talk with too. :)

またまた来ましたよ！The Twelvesが！！前回はDragonflyというところで初ライブだったけど、今回はもっと大きいベニュー、Avalonでライブが行われました。もっとファン、観客が多くなってロサンゼルスでもThe Twelvesの人気が急上昇中というところでしょうか。
彼らが１２時頃から朝の１時半までの間、ノンストップでめちゃめちゃノリの良いミックスを掛け続け、最後、私達の脚はもう。。。棒のよう。。。でもこうも調子の良い音楽を掛けられたら踊らずにはいられないよ！！

ライブの前に彼らがステージに向かって歩いているのを見つけて思わず話しかけちゃいました。超フレンドリーで「Hey!!」って友達のようにハグまでしてくれてww　嬉しかったです。
CDは売ってないの？の質問に彼らが答えたのは「まだCD出してないんだよね〜。でも今オンラインでフリーで音楽聴けるからそれが僕たちの良い宣伝になってるんだよ」。
なるほどね〜。うらちみたいにお金出してでもCDを買いたいという人達がいるっていうのにな〜。でもまーこれも彼らなりの戦略方法なんでしょう。ライブが終わった後も話そう！なんてめぐっぺと言ってたんだけど、結局疲れてとっとと家に帰りました。また来いよ〜！

Kauai, Hawaii

Hawaii... here I come again! hehe. Around the same time, I was in Oahu for my friends' wedding last year. And, this time again... I was in Kauai island for another good friends of mine's wedding. Out of all the islands in Hawaii, Kauai the one has so much rain, especially March... Why now..? But March 8th is very very special day for Diffenderfers. And I was so happy to be there to witness their special day.

I arrived in Kauai with my friend on the Friday night, and stayed until Monday morning. We got a lot of rain unfortunately. EXCEPT... on the wedding day! :) It was beautiful day. I feel blessed, and I was amazed how much the Sunny Girl, Jun affected the weather. She was the lucky charm. On top of that, as soon as they are done with ceremony and we were about to move on to the reception, it started to rain again HARD! Wow... I felt really a bless. I am not religious but I had to thank to God... :)

Over all, the Kauai was much more on country side like I saw chickens walking around in town all over like a stray cats or dogs. And top of that, all the animals I wanted to see such as Dolphins (Na Pali Coast), Whales (Na Pali Coast), Wild Goats (Na Pali Coast), Sea Turtle (Poipu Beach) showed up for us.

The most important part of this trip: Diffenderfers' wedding was beautiful, fun and a lot of laughs. It was just perfect. I've never had a fun wedding like this. I guess good people gather at the same place, good energy comes in naturally and we can naturally have a good time. I was so content even though this trip was super short...

ハワイにまた行って来ました。去年の今頃もハワイ、今年もハワイ。すべて結婚式です。 去年はオアフで、今回はカウアイ。カウアイはハワイの島の中で最も雨量が多い島だそうで、、、。降られました。結構降られました。友達と金曜日の夜に到着し、月曜日の朝までいた訳ですが（最短旅行、、）、結婚式以外雨ばーーっかり。でも式の日は朝からずーっと晴れていて、式が終わった途端、ざーーーーー！と再び雨が、、、。晴れ女じゅんちゃんの力はすごい！これは本当に恵まれてるなーと信仰心があまりない私はめずらしく神様に感謝せざるを得ませんでした。でも感動する式だったし、披露宴もめっちゃめちゃ楽しかった〜。たくさんの笑いあり、良い人達に会え、良いエネルギーがたくさん集まったパーティでした。

カウアイは初めて行ったけど、にわとりが町中歩いてるぐらい田舎だった。でもこの田舎さがいいんだわ〜。野良犬とかいるかな〜とも思ったりしたけど犬はさすがに見かけなかった。そこまで田舎じゃなかったみたい。。。 せっかくなんだからと出かけたNa Pali Coastクルーズ（雨降っていたにも関わらず計画続行、、）ではくじら、いるか、山壁にぴったり張り付いて模型にしか見えなかった山ヤギも見えたし、Poipuビーチではあざらしにウミガメにも会えちゃったし。ヘリコプターに乗ってカウアイ島全体見れたし。とても楽しくて楽しくてロスに帰りたくなかったで、結構満足な旅行だったわん。また同じメンバーでハワイ行きたいな〜〜。

The Best Saimin Noodle in town. "Hamura's Saimin Stand".　The flavor is very light. Not oily either. My friends said they have had better one than this at L&L (L&L one tastes like ramen, something I have tasetd before), but I like this one.
If you have a chance to visit, you must go here.
ハワイ名物「サイミンヌードル」。この「ハムラ」で街一番のサイミンヌードルが食べられます。
このヌードルとってもあっさりしてて食べやすいです。あっさりしてるけど味はちゃんと腰を据えてるって感じ。唐辛子入り酢を入れるともっとおいしいww　ちょっと沖縄そばに味が似てるかな？
