Banksy Art Show - Bristol, UK -

I've been super busy lately at my work and private time... I just don't have enough time to write about my trip in Europe... But I know some people are waiting for me to write. So I just decided to write one by one. I was trying to write whole thing, that's why I gave a pressure to myself. No good.

Anyway, back to Europe trip. One of events I really wanted to do during the stay in London was to see Banksy's street art. I love his concept, his sarcasm (not in all of them though), humor and twisted mind. I don't see much street art which impresses me but his art is different.

His art exhibition in Bristol (It takes about 2 hours to North West from London by train) was free to enter, and he provided a LOT of art pieces. At the Bristol Museum, they had his art on 1st floor. And we thought it was it and on 2nd and 3rd floor, they had something else. However, as we forwarded ourselves to another floor, we started to notice something different, something that they seem like they don't belong there and it says "Local Artist" on tags. Hmm... Something doesn't look right... And later on we figured out the "Local Artist" WAS Banksy. The reason why it says "Local Artist" was that's where he is from! :D

This exhibition will last til August 31st. If any of you are planning to go to London, please take extra trip to go to Bristol, and see his exhibition. You won't regret it!

BTW, this city, Bristol was really cute little cozy town.
We thought it was like San Fransisco.

最近、毎日がめちゃくちゃ忙しいです。ブログにヨーロッパ旅行のこと超書きたいのに、そんな時間がない！！毎日毎日色んなことやらなくちゃいけなくて、目紛しいんだけど、ありがたい人生送ってると思います。忙しいのは好きだからねw
でもブログにこの旅行のこと全部書きたくてまとめて書こうとするからプレッシャーになって出来てないんだわと思って、１個づつ書こうと思います。そしたら楽かな。

まずは前回の続き。Blurのコンサート日の次の日、Bristolっていう街に行ってきました。Bristolはロンドンから電車で北西に向かって約２時間かかるところにあるんですが、ここには私の好きなストリートアーティスト、Banksyのアートショーがやってました。旅行に行く前にこのショーのことを教えてくれたじゅんちゃんに感謝！めぐっぺと超楽しんだよww　(BanksyはBristol出身らしい。だからBristolでやってたのねw）

彼のアートの何が好きかっていうと、ちょっと反権力主義的にひねくれた考え方、ユーモア、リサイクルされた考え方（壁のシミを利用して自分のアートにしちゃうとか）でしょうか。普通のストリートアーティスト（グラフィティ系）かと思いきや、絵がめちゃくちゃ上手い！すごいです。目の前で彼のアートを観た時、結構感動しました。しかもパンフ読んでたらメトロポリタンや大英博物館に無断で自分のアートを展示しちゃったりするゲリラ行為もすると書いてあって、超興味深いアーティストでもあります。（詳しくはウィキ読んでみて↓面白いよ）

このBristol Museum, 入場無料だったのですが、3階立てで1階に彼のアートがぎっしり。なので、彼の作品展示は1階だけかと思ってたら、2階にも3階にもちらほら。最初は気がつきませんでした。だって、タグには「Local Artist」しか書いてないし、周りのアートとちょっと溶け込んでいた感じのもあり、最初は結構スルーしてた。でも途中から「これ、こんなところにあったら絶対におかしい」というのを発見して。。。そこからというもの、彼の作品を見つけては笑ったり、感心したり。。。超面白かったです。

もしロンドンに行く予定がある人はぜひブリストルも計画に入れてください。このショーは今年の8月31日で終わっちゃうけど、行ったら必ず楽しめると思う！後悔しませんよー。
超かわいいんだから！なんかサンフランシスコみたい。かわいいお店もたくさんあったり、ローカルの味がとても出てました。

んー。。。どうしてもやっぱり文章長くなっちゃうわ。。簡潔にどうして書けないもんかね。。。

この写真、ブリストルではないけど、ロンドンで１時間以上かけて彼のストリートアート探しました。で、やっとこさ見つけたのがこれ！全然違うやつ探してたんだけど、めぐっぺが「あ！！！」と言ってこの「無政府主義のネズミ」を見つけたの。ふふ。

Euro Trip - London-

My buddy, Meg and I finally took a Europe trip for 2 weeks. The main reason to be in Europe, especially in London was Blur concert. Since they were reunited and we got to know they were having some shows in London, we finally made a decision to go there. It was unusual but great trip that we decided to see a band first and got air plain tickets next...

We stayed in London for 5 days. We did a general sight seeing such as Big Ben, the Parliament, London Bridge, Baker Street, Harrods, the Buckingham Palace, Fish n' Chips, Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, blah blah blah. You will see some pics below... But the most memorable thing we did was of course Blur in Hyde Park and the street artist, Banksy exhibition in Bristol.
We love Banksy's art that we even walked in London and looked for the art. We thought we would find 2 of them, but we couldn't find what we were looking for. However we found some another art from him. We were so happy to find it!

友達のめぐっぺと２週間のヨーロッパ旅行、行って来ましたよ〜。この旅行を二人で決心した理由は何て言ったってBlur。Blurが再結成、ロンドンでコンサートをする！という宣伝をめぐっぺが見つけて「ロンドン行きたいねー」とは言ってたけど、なかなか決心が付いていなかったその時、その宣伝を見つけてしまったという訳です。通常の逆、「コンサートのチケット購入」＞「ロンドン行きの飛行機チケット購入」を私達はやってしまいました。

２週間といえど、とても短く感じられたこの旅行、お笑いもあり、感動あり、そして高い「学費」を払ったりなどなど、思い出深い旅行になりました。いつも皆が行くビッグベン、国会議事堂、ロンドンブリッジ、ベイカーストリート、ハロッヅ、バッキンガム宮殿、フィッシュアンドチップス、ストーンヘンジ、ウィンドサー城、などなど色々と行きましたが、やっぱり感動ものだったのはBlurのコンサートに、Bristolというロンドンから電車で2時間ぐらい離れた町でやっていたストリートアーティスト、Banksyのショかな。私達は彼のアートの大ファンで、ロンドンの街中でも見たい！ということで調べて探し歩きました、、、。でもやっとこさ、見つかったのはたったの１つ。消されちゃったのかなー。でも見つかっただけでも良かった！

We were so lucky to have this nice sunshine in London.
While we were there, we didn't get rained at all.
ロンドンで全く霧も雨も降らず、めちゃくちゃラッキーだなーと思った。パリに行くまでずっと晴れだったよ。

We thought the telephone booth was sooo cute! So I opened the door and took one shot... but... smelled like pee inside! Ewwww!

ストーヘンジで。超見たかったストーンヘンジでしたが、思ったよりも小さくて。。。あれ？？こんなものなんだ。。。とちょっとショックでした。でも見れただけでもラッキー。













After the Windsor Castle - Bath - Stonehenge tour, we stopped by Indian restaurant. This place was gooooood!
ツアーの後でインド料理。これは超おいしかったー。









Found it!! Banksy!! After we walked like an hour and looked for one, here it is!
やーっと見つけた、Banksyのアート！これこれーー。でも他のを歩き探して１時間ほど。。。やーっと１個発見って感じだった。他のはどこにあったんだろう。。。消されてしまったんだろうか。。。

07/02/09 Blur at the Hyde Park. We were so close to the stage that we were separated as soon as Blur came out. And I was pushed and pushed by so many people that I couldn't even breathe... I found out someone was trying to steal something from my bag. I prevented before he got it so it was ok. I had to leave from the crowd immediately...
The opening band: Hypnotics, Crystal Castle, Foals.
ハイドパークでBlurのコンサート。ステージに近かったせいでBlurが出てきた途端ものすごい人にもみくちゃにされました。息ができなかった。。もみくちゃのついでに誰かが私のバッグから何か取ろうとするところを発見。肘鉄砲食わせてやりました。。。ふー危ない！そこから速攻抜け出し。。。

There were more than 50,000 people were at Hyde Park to see Blur.
It was insane.
５万以上の人がハイドパークでBlurを観に来たそうです。

It was sad that they had to end their show... I wanted them to keep going and going...
終わっちゃうのが超悲しかったー。もっともっとやって欲しかったー。

ショーが始まった途端はぐれためぐっぺを探しに打ち合わせした場所へ。。。でも暗くて見えない！めぐっぺはいずこへ。。。

Finally I found her... and we are walking toward to a metro station...
People are still excited about the show and singing "Parklife".

Film: Departures/おくりびと

I just watched this Academy Best Foreign Film Award Winner "Departures" last night. I didn't know too much about this film but some friends of mine recommended me so my date (hehe) and I went to see it. It was amazing, magnificent film.

Just in case if you don't know what the film is about (from IMDB):

"Daigo Kobayashi (Masahiro Motoki) is a devoted cellist in an orchestra that has just been dissolved and now finds himself without a job. Daigo decides to move back to his old hometown with his wife to look for work and start over. He answers a classified ad entitled "Departures" thinking it is an advertisement for a travel agency only to discover that the job is actually for a "Nokanshi" or "encoffineer," a funeral professional who prepares deceased bodies for burial and entry into the next life. While his wife and others despise the job, Daigo takes a certain pride in his work and begins to perfect the art of "Nokanshi," acting as a gentle gatekeeper between life and death, between the departed and the family of the departed. The film follows his profound and sometimes comical journey with death as he uncovers the wonder, joy and meaning of life and living."

This film had funny parts here and there although it made me cry so much as well. Because of the death, because of the family bond, because of the love, because of the comprehension... I can't really describe in one word about this film...

As I discussed about this film with my date, since he was an American, he saw this film in different direction a bit. He didn't understand why Daigo's wife and his friend treated Daigo's job as unclean and improper and wanted him to quit his job.

Here is the part people needs to know a little bit of Japanese culture/history a bit. In our culture, we used to have the social lowest class who deal with dead body. I don't feel proper to say the particular word here since it sounds very discriminated however, the mind "to deal with dead body" = "unclean" still exists. But the time has been gone and our mind has been changed more liberal. I think this film shows this particular occupation from different point of view, and make us realize they are the one to help to relieve their death to another world in their best condition.

People thinks and treats the death different which depends on how they were related to the person who died. However, I think no matter who they were or how they were related, death is death. They deserve to have a love.

Over all, the actors in the film did a great job. I think every one of them got the perfect roll. I am satisfied with this film. (did you know the main guy, Masahiro Motoki used to be an idol? hehe)

アカデミー外国映画賞受賞の「おくりびと」を昨日観に行ってきました。友達に勧められて、デートと一緒に観に行ってきたわけですがこれは泣けた、泣けた。面白くて笑ってしまう部分もたくさんあったのですが、家族愛、別れ、偏見から理解に変わる瞬間、色々と心に来るものがたくさんあって、号泣でした。

しかし、この映画について彼と意見を交わしていたところ、彼にとって分からないところが一つ。なぜ「納棺師」が汚い仕事なのか。なぜ偏見を持たないといけないのか。ここが分からなかったそうです。彼はアメリカ人でこっちでは死体を扱う仕事は別に汚い仕事としては考えていないそうで、日本の文化、歴史が分からないと主人公、大悟の妻が発する「汚らわしい」や友人が「もっとましな仕事つけや」などの台詞はその発した人物を悪者扱いさせると
言っていました。なるほど、、、考えなかった。観客のほとんどはアメリカ人でしたがその部分、皆同じこと思ったのかな、、、。彼の場合、結構日本の文化を知っている人なので、私が昔、差別的階級が存在していてそこから「汚らわしい」という考えが来てると思うと説明したら（まーそれだけじゃないけどね。臭いとかもあるし、、、）「あ、その階級知ってる」とびっくり発言。そこまでなかなか外人知らんぞ、、、。とま〜、面白い会話が出来た訳ですが、この映画、色々と考えさせられる映画で超気に入りました。もっくん含め、皆自分の役が超ハマっていたと思う。観て良かった〜。まだ観てない人はぜひ。



















FYI.. Masahiro Motoki was in a group it's called "Shibugaki-Tai" in 80's. He is in the red suits. hehe. (if you don't want to see this whole thing, watch around 1:24)

Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear: "On a Neck on a Spit"



Lately, I am very into this band, Grizzly Bear. This indie rock band is based mostly on acoustic. Their melody coming from acoustic is so beautiful. I think I found them accidentally on my iTunes, and I was like "aw, I didn't know I had this song" and listened and fell in love. Luckly, they are coming to Los Angeles on this Friday at the Wiltern. It's sold-out show, and we got tickets kind of late so we got Mezzanine seats... :( I hate Mezzanine.. I feel like I am not included to the show being up there.. But I know we will definitely enjoy their live music. (After we got the mezzanine tickets, we found out they are also going to play at the Troubadour! Damn it!!)

Grizzly Bear: Myspace

最近、Grizzly Bearというバンドにハマっています。このインディーロックバンド、アコギをベースとしたサイケフォークを主に曲作っていて、とても綺麗な音を出すんです。ギター弾けないけどこういう曲をお手本にだったら弾いてみたいな〜。
このバンド、私のiTunesに何故か入っていて「誰これ？」ってな訳で聴いたらもうぞっこんでした。なんで今まで気がつかなかったんだろう！どうやって入り込んでたのかな。。。
こんなGrizzly Bear, ロスに今週末来ます！！いつものライブ仲間と今回は新メンバー、マギーちゃんと一緒にMezzanine席を獲得。。。買うタイミング超遅かったからこの結果に。。メザニンは仲間外れにされてるっていうイメージがあるからいやーー！でも見れるだけでも嬉しいです。なんたって昨日いきなりSOLD OUTになってたからね！でも後でTroubadourにも来ると知ってちょっとショック！

The Peaches @ Henry Fonda

Peacheeeeeeeees!! I knew you were gonna do some crazy show like every time! You did it again!! I told my concert buddy, Meg about my prediction and I was right.

We were at 2nd row from the stage to see the craziness. But the craziness didn't stay only on stage. It happened on us too!! After she showed up with a mask and funky pink jacket on, sang one song. And next song (sorry, I don't remember what song it was), she walked, dived and walked again on us. That was crazy. Not only walked us, she spurted out some gore on us too.. I got some bloody ink on my T-shirt... eeeeek! I hope it'll come off.

Because of the crazy start, it put some fire on the fans (excuse me... not literally). More people tried to come to front, people were dancing and pushing around... Meg and I were separated because of that.
I stayed at the front row but I felt like I was in the train on rush hour in Tokyo. I felt bad to the girls in front me because people pushed me, my body had to push them... And on top of it, I had to be pushed to some guy's armpit... and he wasn't smell... that good... Did he put any deodrant?? I didn't think so... :(
But.. I like this kind of craziness. haha!! Great songs, beat and good-crazy show, Peaches!


来た来た来た〜〜〜、The Peaches!! 毎回行くたびに驚くようなことをしてくれるPeaches. 今回で３回目か4回目ですが、前回は2階から突然の登場、今回はレスリングマスクとユニフォーム、そしてファンキーなピンクのジャケットで登場。そしてマスクの下にはいつもだったらカーリーな髪のはずがストレートになってチェンジしてました。そこで別に驚いた訳ではないんですが、ええええ〜〜〜！とうちらを驚かせたのがPeaches,うちらの上を歩こうとしてるでないの！ちょっと歩いて立ち上がったと思ったらうちらの群がりにダイブ！これでファンは大盛り上がり、大興奮！！もっと見たいという人達が前へ前へと押し寄せてきて、私と一緒に見に来ためぐっぺははぐれるハメに。。。どこにいる？？と頭をくるりと後ろに向けるような状況ではなかったです。まるで東京の通勤ラッシュ。私はもう本当にステージの前にいたから
後ろからどんどんと押される押される。。。前にいた女の子をも押す形になってしまって、申し訳なかった。。。しかも私が押される目の前にはちょうど良く、頼んでもいないのに、男性の脇が！しかも脇から汗のにおいまでしてくれちゃっています。。。あ〜〜ん、これはひどかった。。。

そして驚きはダイブだけでは終わらなかった。。。血糊を吹き出したり、股間周辺にストラップを付けて何をするのかと思ったら、いきなりLEDの光がぴかぴかなったり。。。
他にも色々あったんだけどまー色々な人が読んでいるということであんまりここでは書けないっす。Peaches=セクシャルとだけ書いておきましょうか。。。そんなのがたくさん起きた訳です。笑

最後、ぐたーと疲れたけど、こんなパフォーマンスを見せてくれるのはPeachesぐらいしかいない！こういう楽しいクレイジネスなのはいつでも大歓迎！！

T-Shirt Making / Tシャツ作り

I spent the Memorial Day weekend at home... I wanted to go to a camping with my friends but I got some work to do... I mean not this T-Shirts making but I got some updates job for my clients.. Oh well. It's ok, I'm getting extra cash and save some money for the next trip.

Since my dad asked me to make some shirts, I went to my friends' house in vallery who has those equipments and printed. I needed to make about 10 shirts but I made 20 shirts instead. They'll be a gift from me. :)

Dad, I just sent them today. So you should receive them shortly. :) I hope you'll like'em!

今週末はメモリアルデイ・ウィークエンドで、本当はお友達とキャンプをする予定だったんだけど、結局ロスにステイするはめに、、、。ウェブサイトの更新等を頼まれて、どうしても今週末やらねばならないという訳で、、、。ま〜副収入が増えると思えば良いので、ポジティブに考えるようにしますww　

どうせどこにも行かないし、、、という訳で父に頼まれたTシャツもプリントしちゃおうと、バレーに住んでいるTシャツのプリント機を持ってる友達のところまで行き、約20枚プリントしました。10枚って頼まれてたけど、残りの10枚は私からのギフトね。早い父の日プレゼントですww

パパ、今日送ったので、来週には届くと思います。楽しみにしててね。気に入ってくれるといいな〜。

We had to wash the first color out from the screen for the next color.
次の色を使うために前のインクを洗剤で洗って強いプレッシャーの水で掛けて洗い落とします。









I used orange color for fun on certain T-Shirts. They look so cute. But I am not sure if those 60 years old men would like them... hehe
ちょっと楽しくオレンジを使ってみましたw　茶色やグレーのシャツに載せてみたから超かわいい〜。でも60歳以上のおじさん達に気に入ってもらえるでしょうか、、、。でも超かわいいんだよ！
