I just came back from the Two Door Cinema Club show at Troubadour tonight.

This young Irish indie rock band got some great energy to show.

I was very looking forward to this and I just kept listening to their album over and over, and

I also checked their KCRW show 2 days ago at the Morning Becomes Eclectic. I was so ready to see their live.

Luckily, before I went in to the Troubadour, I got to talk to Kevin (Bass player/ vocal - wearing glasses) a little bit. Thanks to my friend Mr. Oyie, he was the one introduced me to Kevin ;). hehe Until I was interrupted by some people who were looking for tickets, we talked about this show and he seems very sweet.

After the show was over, I was like "wow". Even though they just came out like 2007, and according to the interview I listened from KCRW, they just got out from High School. They are so young however they are very talented. They got talent, energy, and power to grow more and more. I can predict they can be big in the near future.

Oh, I can't forget to mention about the opening band, Funeral Party. I have seen their live at Spaceland about 2 years ago opened for Friendly Fires. Back then, I thought they were "kinda" good but not there yet. It sounded like just copied from other cool bands/music however for this time... they came back with powerful sound. What made them change? I really like their beat and sound now.

久々です。引っ越しとか旅行とか出張とかでなかなか時間がなくて．．．。

Two Door Cinema Clubのライブから今帰ってきました！

友達が教えてくれた直後からこのアイルランド出身若造インディーロックバンドの音楽を聞きまくったほど、最初から惚れました、この音に。超良い！！アルバム聞きまくり、Youtube、インタビューなど色々見て予習してから

行きましたが、ライブでエネルギーを感じ取れて、シンプルにすごいなって思えたバンドは数多くいますが、このバンドもそのうちの１つ。でも何が他と違うかと言うと高校卒業したばかりなのに、この音作りの上手さ。なんなんでしょう。まだまだ経験を積まないと出て来ない音とかあると思いますが（アマチュアな私になんて分かりませんが）、才能があるんだな〜と感心してしまいました。リズムといい、音といい、エネルギーといい、良いですね〜〜。

しかも人格も良いと見た！ショーの前にバンドメンバーの一人、Kevin（ベース／ボーカル - メガネ）と話す機会があり、今晩のことちょろっと話しましたが、話し方も柔らかく、ちょっと気を使ってくれたりとかしちゃって．．．優しい！音楽も良ければ人格も良い！これで私は大ファンになってしまいましたw。ロスにまた10月に戻ってくると教えてくれたので、またショーに行けるといいな。今度はFondaぐらいになるのかなw

あと、前座のFuneral Partyも忘れてはいけません。このバンド、Friendly Firesが２年前にSpacelandでライブをやった時にも前座を勤めてました。でもこの時はなんか微妙〜ってちょっと思ったりしたのを覚えてます。ちょっと良いんだけど、好き！って言えない中途半端な音だったような．．．。でも今回は前回と比べ成長してる！音楽を聞いてて、お〜〜こいつらがんばってるな〜って思っちゃいました。是非是非チェックしてみて下さい。

I finally received my new apt's keys today. :) I am soooooo excited and can't wait to sleep, eat, dine, and play with my kitties at this place. Since my current apt doesn't get any sun light in living room, this new one gets bright light in to EVERYWHERE! :) :) :)
I always wanted to live in the hardwood floor too! I've looked around soooo many places over 20 locations between Valley to Downtown, and I didn't like ANY of them. But thanks god to my lovely friend and my near future neighbor, Miss G got me in to this apt. She already got a cute place and I really liked it even before I saw my own.

It took me just a day to give my answer to the new apt manager. From there, everything was rolling and been decided to move out from my own historical place (ha! 12 years!! Geez!)

Although my current place is filled of boxes boxes boxes and trash... I want to get out of here asap... lol
However, I am very thankful to my place though. It had been through a lot of things with me. Graduating college, meeting a lot of great people (and bad), marriage, divorce, etc... It's seriously the time to move on. At the same time, I am also hopeful that I can change a bit of my life starting at this new place in Silverlake. Meeting new people, changing my view of life a bit.
My mind and soul are just so clutter right now, just like this current place. I just need some fresh air in them, that's all :)

今日やっと新しいアパートの鍵をもらいました！そうです、私はこの12年間過していたロスフェリツから離れ、隣町だけどシルバーレークという場所に引っ越すことによーーやく決まったんです！！今日は初めて一人でじっくりアパートを見ることが出来て、ここにあの家具おいて、この壁にはこの絵を掛けて...なんてシミーレションもしてみちゃったw　早く新居で寝たり、食べたり、ねこちん達と遊んだり、ただいまーーって言ってみたり。早くしたーーい！
今住んでいる場所はリビングに光が全く入らずだったんですが、新居はあっかる〜〜い。

今回の場所が決まるまで20件以上見てもう最後は諦めていたけど、友達のGちゃんが「うち乃アパート1軒空くけどみない？」って言ってくれて。彼女も同じところに住んでるから、もうレイアウトは分かってて、かわいいなーって思ってたところ、お誘いの声一言。
ちょっと心は決まってたけど、ちゃんと見ないとと思ってみたらやっぱりかわいい。
次の日には返事出してました。

その後、事がどんどん決まって行き、とうとう今月末この古巣とはおさらばすることに！

この古巣は今箱、箱、箱のやまずみ。猫達もどうしたの？何？何事？とちょっと困惑状態。
しかも今日はなっしゅくんの誕生日だと言うのに。。。ごめんなー、何もしてやれなくて。
あ、特別な日用に取ってあるウェットフードがある！あげてやろうじゃないか〜。
待っててな。

あ〜、早くこの部屋からでたーい！もう心も頭もぐっちゃぐちゃの今、本当にこれ、終わらせてリフレッシュな人生始めたい！！

でもね...こんな私に12年間も付き合ってくれて見守ってくれたこの部屋に感謝せねばな。
ありがとうね。お世話になりました。大学、卒業、色んな出会い、結婚、離婚などなど...
ほんと、色んなことあったなー。今度は新しい場所でどんな出会いがあるんだろうね〜。

My first Yosemite National Park was such a nice, pleasant experience to spend for the Valentine's Day. Not only Valentine's Day, the next day, 15th was my bf's birthday.
I enjoy and appreciate more to spend a special moment in beautiful nature lately.
I think it's more special, and memorable. And it's just nice to get away from the city anyway.


今週末はPresident's Dayに、バレンタインデー、それに彼の誕生日でもありました。
普通に綺麗な、おいしいレストランに行って、祝っても良いけど、最近はこういう特別な日は自然の中で過ごすっていう行事を好んでます。街から離れるっていう意味でもあるし、
こういう方がもっと特別に感じるし、思い出に残ると思う。
で、そんな週末をヨセミテ国立公園（ロスから車で５時間）で過ごして来ました。初めてだったし、雪も全然残ってて寒かったけど、ハイキング、自然の中でのご飯、ちょっとした観光...、楽しかったです。

This is where we camped. We had some snow around our tent.
Inside of tent was pretty warm, and I didn't need to wear extra clothes for the night.

ここでテント張りました。雪がまだまだあって、寒いんだけど、テントの中はあったかほかほか。夜は普通に寝間着着て、寝るほど温かかった。





This is called "Bear Box". We can store our food there to protect ourselves and food from bears. I was told that Bear likes Beer. hahaha! That's funny but not funny if they really want to visit you!

自分達が持ってきた食品をこの「熊ボックス」と呼ばれるストレージに入れます。今は冬眠してるからいいけど、食品や歯磨き粉、化粧品類等を車、テントの中に入れておくとごそごそと来ちゃうそうです。襲われたくないからね。ビールも好きなんだって。ははは！

We were going to Mirror Lake, but somehow we got off the track and heading to Vernal Fall.

Mirror Lakeというところにハイキングするはずが、なぜか、Vernal Fallという所へ行くはめに。これはこれでいいんだけどね。

Dave showed me where he has rock-climbed, and seems like he climbed all over in Yosemite.
Most of the wall were all straight, and as I've never had climbed on rock before, it seems to be crazy to do that on 90 degree angle...

デイブは昔ハードコアなロッククライマーで、ヨセミテでは何度もロッククライミングをしたことがあるそうです。「ここ」も、「あそこ」でも登ったことがあるらしく、色々と見せてくれました。私みたいなロッククライミングしたことのない人が見ると絶対にできないでしょ！っていう所も登ってます...。すごすぎです。90度一直線のところもわっせわっせ...私には出来ない！

Vernal Fallsへ行く道が雪、氷などで覆われていて危ないとされ、クローズされていたんですが、私達はそんなの何のその...、門をくぐり抜けてハイキング続行。

It was icy on stairs so I tried to be careful not to fall!
まだまだハイキングは続きます。雪が全然残ってるから凍ってるところも。滑って転ばないように、気をつけながら階段を上がっていきます。








After about 30 min, we finally arrived to the top of the Vernal Fall. It was gorgeous!
30分ほどがんばって歩いた結果、こんな綺麗なところに辿り着きました。滝のてっぺんです。





























I forgot to bring some water... but I got a great source right in front of me! The taste was great, so much better than the water I buy or get from my sink! Yummy!
ハイキングするにあたってありえんことをしました。水、持ってくるの忘れたんです。でも滝のお水汲んで飲んだらって言われて...超おいしいー！自然のお水最高！！



Ahwahnee Hotel. It was really nice architecture inside. Built by stones, wood, steel etc... surrounded by all the nature material, it was just stunning.

アワニーホテル。内外の建築デザイン、とても綺麗でした。石に木に...自然のマテリアルをふんだんに使っており、自然の中の自然に囲まれて過ごせるホテルです。


A restaurant in the hotel. Its space was so beautiful. I would like to dine here someday. :)

I found these guys in the show window. I think they are dolls made by Native Americans. They are so cute though.

Dave cooks Valentine's Day dinner. Steak, potatoes, squash, some dessert and wine. It was soo good and I was drunk at the end! lol
デイブがバレンタインディナーを作ってくれたよ。ステーキに、ポテトに、デザートに、ワインに...　とてもおいしかったし、最後は私はワイン飲みすぎて酔っぱらってしまい...。







This little cute monster was eating our power bars. Those little bags had bites every where...
ちっこいネズミを発見。ささっと動くからゴキブリかと思ったら、こんなのが出て来て...超かわいいんだけど、私達のパワーバーをほとんど数かじりしてました。このやろーー！

But he did cooking, making fire, taking me to tour in Yosemite... he did everything for me. That was a nice Valentine's Day. Thank you babe!
キャンプのことならなんでもデイブにまかせろ！なーんて...こんなの言ったら「おいおい。。。」って言われそうだけど、でもなーんでも知ってる彼はすごい。料理も出来るし、火もつけられるし、ハイキングで色々と教えてくれたり、見せてくれたり。良いバレンタインを過ごせました♩ありがとうね☆

ぱっと上を向いたらジョシュアツリーよりももっとたくさんの星が...　なんて贅沢なんでしょうね。私の優秀なカメラくんも一生懸命写真を撮ってくれました。良くぞ撮ってくれた！

Gun Club in downtown

I haven't gone to a gun shooting range for a long time since 2001? I don't even remember how long it has been.

My friend took me to this one gun club in downtown, it's called Los Angeles Gun Club.

I didn't think there were so many people waiting but it was packed last night. We waited about 1 hour to get our station.

Finally, we got our turn, and he pulled out his Ruger P89 9mm and Colt 1911 45mm (is that right?). I have no idea about guns and I was already scared by the huge gun shot sound from other stations so I was a little bit nervous for whole thing.

He taught me how to hold it, how to load the bullets, how to unlock the gun, and where I put my hands and my index finger (when the gun is already loaded, I need to put my index finger outside of trigger.). And... it's ready to shoot!

I tried the 9mm one first since he said 45mm is so much powerful than 9mm. When I shot 9mm, it was still powerful for me but after I shot a few times, I got how the gun moves and I shot the target a bit higher than I wanted to. So I aimed a bit lower and I started to shoot somewhere I wanted to. Well... not quite but close enough. :P

45mm WAS really powerful. I couldn't get any target point almost every shots. When I shot the first bullet, I think the empty shell(?) went in to my glasses. It was pretty hot... :(

Over all, it was pretty fun. I was close and shot the target at every shot :) It's all about practice!!

久しぶりにシューティングレンジ、行ってきました。この前に最後行ったのは父がロスに遊びに来てくれた時だったから2001年？結構前だから覚えてない...。

今回行った場所はダウンタウンにあるLos Angeles Gun Clubっていう所へ友達が連れて行ってくれました。昨晩はすごい混んでて、１時間ぐらい待たされてやっと自分達の番が来たって感じです。

銃声って音がすごくて、耳の鼓膜を保護するイヤフォンと目を保護（銃弾の残りが飛び散るので）するグラス貸してもらって装着。撃つ準備万端ですw 銃の持ち方、銃弾の入れ方とか、入れた後の指の置き方（引き金を間違って押しちゃったら大変なことになるからね...）とかも教えてもらいました。

友達が持ってきた銃は２丁。Ruger p89 9mmっていうのとColt 1911 45mmだそうです。

9mm と45mmの違いはそのmmって書いてあるんだから長さなんだろうなって思ったんだけど、違うみたい...。ちょっと分かりません。

でも強さは45mmの方がとてもパワフルだそう。実際やってみたら、腕を固定するのが大変でした。9mmの方ももちろん固定するの、大変だけどまだやり安く、ターゲットをしっかり撃てる。それでも銃を撃つと腕の力よりも銃の方が強いからどうしても撃った瞬間上に行っちゃう。だから、それも含めるために、下の方を狙ったら結構ターゲットを撃てるようになりました。ずっと練習したらちゃんと撃てるようになれるのかもね！

まー下手っぴでも楽しめるガンクラブでした。また行きたいかも〜。

A New Try - Pottery Class / 新挑戦・陶芸クラス

Since year 2010 started, I always had a mind "I need to try a new thing". I am also influenced by my bf who has a lot of passion towards to his hobbies. I thought I had a lot of hobbies too although when I thought about it, I really didn't have any hobby besides going to concerts (nothing's wrong with that!) .

As soon as I saw a classified ad in Bridge (Japanese free magazine) about a Japanese pottery class in this early January, I immediately thought "this is IT!". I have been thinking about taking a pottery class for a long time but I just couldn't find a class who is taught by a Japanese instructor. I wanted to learn "WA (based on Japanese culture)" pottery. So, I invited a couple friends who were also interested taking a potter class as me, and just had a whole new experience yesterday. :)

This Japanese-American instructor, Mr. Roy Kunisaki gave us a very oriented, easy-to- understand guide from the beginning which is kneading the clay. Of course, I have never done this before, so it was difficult to get it right at first, but slowly but surely with the instructor's detail explanation, I was getting it right.

The class was held at a recreation park in San Pedro from 1:30PM to 4PM. The one-day trial class was $35 for each person (from 3rd person will be charged $30 for the group). He provides all the tools we need and clay. You only need to bring some clothes which can be messy such as an apron and a towel.

The 2 hours and an half passed so quickly. It was very fun class which I want to take again.
My cup (I know it's kinda big but it's supposed to be a cup!) will be completed in a month (because of saving energy). I can't wait to get it.

とうとう念願の陶芸のクラスを取って来ましたよ〜。2010年は絶対に何か新しいことを習うぞと目標を立てていたのですが、早くも叶うことになりましたw　多趣味の彼氏にも影響を受けて何かをやりたい！って思っていたし、私も結構趣味あるんじゃん？って思っていたのも束の間。良く考えてみたらコンサートぐらいしか趣味がない！と気が付いたんです。（別にそれはそれでいいのだ！）で、ブリッジのクラシファイド広告「陶芸をやりませんか？」を見て、「これだーー！」と思いました。

友達何人かに声を掛けて興味ある子が２人ほど。一緒に昨日行ってきました。
陶芸のクラスは洋物だったら色んなところにあるんだけど、「和」の陶芸を習いたかった私は、なかなか洋の方は始められず、、、。ブリッジの広告を見た時は超嬉しかった。

で、クラスの先生、ロイ・国崎先生はとても分かりやすく説明しながら、ハンズオンでビギナーの私達に教えてくれました。一つ一つの説明が分かりやすかったから、最初は戸惑って力任せに作っていた私も最後にはコツが分かって来て、なかなか良い作品作っちゃいました（ちょっと想像していたものよりも大きいけどねw）。

クラスはサンペドロの丘の上のレクリエーションパークで。一日体験コースを取ったのですが、一人$35から。グループで３人以上になると３人目から$30になります。
道具は全部ロイ先生がプロバイドしてくれ、持参しなければいけないものは汚れてもいいエプロンとかタオルだけ。粘土もプロバイドしてくれます。

２時間半のクラスだったんですが、とても楽しくてあっと言う間に過ぎて行きました。
私の湯のみは約1ヶ月後に完成予定です（燃費をセーブするため）。完成後見るのが超楽しみです！

David Weidman - One of my favorite Illustrator - 私の大好きなアーティスト

I always love the retro style, 40's-70's era cartoons / art work such as Hanna-Barbera. And this famous "Mr. Magoo", I used to watch it on the Cartoon Network a while ago when I had a cable in Pasadena. But I didn't know who created it until I bought this book "The Whimsical Works of David Weidman" by David Weidman. As soon as I saw this book at the MOMA book store, I fell in love with his art work. And I started to research who he was. He wasn't really well-known until he published this book... He is already 89 yrs old, and had worked as an artist since 40's.
I love his color schemes, subjects he picks, and layouts. His artwork just brings me to something sentimental, and nostalgia. I just appreciate old stuffs. :)

I have been to his gallery in West Hollywood, and they carry a lot of his art pieces. The smallest one starts from 8x8, and biggest ones... I don't know. They were pretty big. And I got something for a house warming gift who I knew she would appreciate his art as well. And then I found out Mr. Weidman was having a show in Pasadena the next day.

I was so thrilled to meet Mr. Weidman in person at the Design Within Reach studio in Pasadena on last Thursday. I don't know him and his art well enough yet, although I was pretty excited just to meet him and hopefully I could get his autograph. I was also hoping I could buy one or two pieces.

My impression of Mr. Weidman was same with how I feel towards to his art. He was very nice person and gave me a warm feeling with his humor. I think I want to collect his pieces whenever I can. :)

40年代から70年代に掛けてレトロなアニメや漫画が好きで、（かと言って色々聞かれても誰が作ったとかあんまり分かりませんがね）パサデナに住んでいた頃、よくケーブルの「Cartoon Network」というチャンネルで「Mr. Magoo」を含め昔のアニメを見てましたが、この「Mr. Magoo」を誰が制作したのかっていうのはDavid Weidmanだとつい最近知ったんです。知ったきっかけが最近サンフランシスコのMOMAという美術館で買った「The Whimsical Works of David Weidman」という本なのですが、もうこの本に出てくるアートが本当にかわいいんです。色使いから、コンテンツ、レイアウト、全部魅了されてしまいました。動物好きな私にとって動物の登場が多いアートは注目を引く大の理由になるんですけど（シャガールみたいにね）、これは本当にかわいい。レトロ調なのも大好き。でもこの本が出るまでそんなに知られてなかったアーティストだったみたいです。本人はもうすでに89歳。しかも40年代から活動を始めてるアーティストです。

彼のギャラリーには8x8のサイズから始まる色んなプリントがたくさん置いてあります。友達の新居祝いに一つ、絶対に喜んでくれると自信があった作品をピックし、お店の人と話をしていたら次の日木曜日に彼のショーがあると分かったんです。超興奮して、友達と早速そのパサデナにあるDesign Within Reachという家具ギャラリーへと足を運びました。

彼の作品のこと、良くまだ分からないですがそれでも作品を見る度に胸がきゅーーんとなって、しかもその作った本人に会えるなんて、なんてラッキーなんでしょう。彼が出版した本とカメラを手に取って、「こんばんわ, David」と彼に挨拶したら、「Do I know you??」とジョークがすぐに返ってきました。作品に対するきゅーんが彼本人にもきゅーん。超かわいいおじーちゃんでした。写真も一緒に取ってもらって、サインももらって超満足です。

作品を出来るだけ集めたいなーって思ってるけど、値段が、、高くなってます、、、。泣
でもそれでも少しずつ、集めて行きたいな。

I found this new flavor, Pina Colada Orbit gum tonight at the Target.
I love Pina Colada! Any type of food or drinks, if it tastes like Pina Colada, I just love it. And I don't chew a gum at home at all, but I just have to try it tonight... Mmm.. it's pretty tasty. But I think they change the quality of gum... It became a bit harder than before... I still think Orbit tastes the best out of any other gums though.

今日、オービットガムの新フレーバー、「ピニャコラーダ」をターゲットでショッピングしてる時に発見！ピニャコラーダ味だったら何でも好きな私が気に入るでしょうか、、、。
家で一切ガムは噛まないこの私が今体験〜。ん〜おいしいね〜。
