Fujiya and Miyagi, Fujiya and Miyagi, Fujiya and Miyagi... Vanilla, Strawberry Vanilla Strawberry... hehe If you know which songs I am talking about, you'should think this is funny! lol

This time Meg and I went to the Echo to see Fujiya & Miyagi who is from Brighton, England.
It was a good show, however unfortunately we had to realize we really like their sound but after all we had to think their sound is all same over 20 songs.... Lyrics from every songs fits to one sounds. Their beat is about same, the vocalist sings in same style... Their sound is not bad at all and actually I loved it when I listened their 3rd album "Transparent Things". But 4th album "Light Bulbs"... Hmm...? I have heard this sound before... And I had to think a moment, and realize the sound is similar to "Transparent Things"!
You should listen to "Photocopier" (Transparent Things), and "Ankle Injuries" (Transparent Things) and "Knickerbocker" (Lightbulbs) . They are all same. I am pretty sure Fujiya & Miyagi reads won't this article, but in case if they did read my article, I have to say "Sorry!" but this is how I felt... I like each songs individually though! :D

One of the opening band, Pop Levi was pretty cool except the vocalist plays like Jimmy Hendrix-ish... And his play was pretty comical. I loved it.

Fujiya and Miyagi, Fujiya and Miyagi, Fujiya and Miyagi... Vanilla, Strawberry Vanilla Strawberry... ははは、もしこのバンド知っててどの曲のことを私が言ってるか分かったらこれ、結構笑えると思うんだけど、どう？？ひひひ。

今回はThe EchoでFujiya & Miyagi (前座：Pop Levi)をもちろん、私のバディ、めぐっぺと行ってきました。ライブはなかなか良かったのですが、今回気がついちゃったことがあるんです。このバンド、全曲を一曲づつ、（続けて全部ではなく）聞けば「全部大好き！」って言えるんだけど、２枚のアルバム(Transparent Things と Lightbulbs)を一気に立て続けに聴いてしまうと、なんと音が皆一緒！歌詞が違うだけで、リズムも歌い方もほぼ一緒だから、「あれ、さっきこれやらなかった？」と錯覚してしまう訳です。。。ちょっと残念なバンドだわー。もったいないーー！
皆さんに聴いてもらいたいのが、「Collarbone」、「Ankle Injuries 」、「Knickerbocker」。最初の２曲はTransparent Things (サードアルバム）、で３曲目のがLlightbulbsから。フォースアルバムです。

"Collarbone" (これ結構有名かも。CMで使われてます）結構むごい動画だな〜。初めて見たけど。。。

Pop Leviのショーは結構突っ込みどころ満載で、歯ギターあり、熱血ギター弾きあり（ジミヘンみたく）、芸人さんも笑い転がる面白顔もあり、、、で、楽しかった〜。

Keenhouse, College, Anoraak!!

I know I was sick and I took a day and half off from my work on this Tuesday, and Wednesday... and I finally got better on next day. I know I should stay home and get rest more until I get better completely... But I couldn't resist this one Keenhouse, College and Anoraak Show at the Echoplex on this Thursday night. That wasn't a sold-out show, and not that many people to start with but at the end, more people showed up and we really had a great time. I knew College from Myspace from a long time ago, and I was excited about him coming in town. His, and Anoraak music reminds me of 80's, early 90's pop electronic music.

今週はスノボー後のどをやられ、体調を崩し、火曜日は会社を早退、水曜日は会社を休み、木曜日は調子が良くなったから会社に戻ったのですが、、その夜どうしても見逃せないライブがあったので行ってきてしまいました。てへっ！先月に出会ったKeenhouseに、ずっと前から好きだった フランスDJ、Collegeとめぐっぺのおかげで知ったAnoraak。どれも８０年代、９０年代初期を思い出させるようなロゴに音でどうしても見たかった訳です。最初のLexiCondonが出て来た時はがら〜んとほとんど誰もいなかった、、、というか友達が応援に来てた、、程度だったけど、Keenhouseぐらいからどんどんと盛り上がりを見せて最後はパック状態に近い状態。めぐっぺのお友達も途中参加で、皆今晩の音を気に入って楽しんでたみたいだったから超楽しかった。良い音を分かってくれる仲間と一緒にいることがなんか最近楽しいと思うこの頃です。

Darker My Love Part 2 @ the Echoplex

I went to see 2nd time of Darker My Love at the Echoplex last night with my buddy Meg, Gabu chan, Yuki+Miles and Taka. That was a fun night. We got to know a new band "Christmas Island" who didn't make it to the show since they were late 30min.. and "the Muslims". They sound like post-punk type of music. Meg and I liked the band as well. But the main band, Darker My Love didn't betray our expectation, and they gave us a full of energy show. But one or two things I was dissapointed about...: 1. They didn't play "White Comosition" which is my favorite song, 2. They didn't do encore.... whaaat! I talked to the keyboard player, Will afterward of the show, and he said doing encore is gay!! Boo! I hope he was just kidding... :(

今回で2回目のDarker My LoveをEcho ParkにあるEchoplexで見て来ました。前座のthe Muslimsも良かった！本当はその前の前座のChristmas Islandも期待していたんだけど、結局うちらが遅れたもんで見ることが出来ず、、、。っていうか、話を聞いたらそいつら３０分も遅刻したそうで、、、ありえん！せっかくCDとか買いたかったのになーー、、、。
ま、それはいいとして、Darker My Love,一番前に陣とって聞いていたせいかあんまり声が聴こえん、、っていう部分がたまにあったんだけど、それを忘れたら期待を裏切ることなく良いステージを見せてくれました。でもまー100％期待に答えてくれた訳ではなかったなー。
１つは私の大好きな曲"White Composition"をプレイしてくれなかったこと。２つ目はアンコールがなかったこと！なに？？アンコールのないメインバンドっていなくない！？ぶー！って
思っていた矢先、Darker My LoveのCDを買おうと思ったらバンドメンバーがいるでないの！キーボードのウィルって言う人と話すチャンスがあったからその人にアンコールどうしたの？White Compositionどうしたの？って聞いたら、アンコールはださいよーっていうお答えが、、、。そんな答えが返ってくるとは、、寂しいです。White Compositionは自分もやりたかったけど、今回のスケジュールに入ってなかったと、、、。泣
ま〜、次回に期待しましょうっかね。

My Birthday Week / 誕生日の週末♪

Friday

I celebrated my birthday casual this time at bars it's called "The Room" and "Beauty Bar". No dinner, No expensive bill! :) I just wanted to get together with people I love, and have a great time with drinks only! hehe.
Thank you so much for everyone who wished my birthday!! I had a really good time and I got more bless this time than ever! I wanted to get drunk this time like getting crazy and dance on the counter at the bar or something, but... it didn't happen... I was busy talking to everyone (which I had a lot of fun of course) and forgot to drink.. lol!

今回の誕生日はシンプルに仲良い友達とおいしいお酒を飲むだけにしました。以前はディナーパーティーとかしてたけど、やっぱり高くなっちゃうからね。飲むだけならプレッシャーなし！それにもっとたくさんの人に来てもらいたかったからね。今回はThe RoomとBeauty Barで楽しみました。
私の誕生日を祝って下さった皆さん、本当にありがとうございました〜。今までよりも多くの人から祝ってもらって超嬉しかったです。本当は酔っぱらって記憶なくしてぎゃーーー！とやりたかったんですが、たくさんの方にいらっしゃってもらっておしゃべりばかりしてて、飲むの忘れてました。ま〜でもなんつったって35だからね。そんな記憶なくしてへべれけになっても恥ずかしいか、、、

Saturday
I started my Saturday with a nice lunch with my friend from work at her boyfriend's restaurant, Vivoli Cafe on Sunset Blvd. I love this place because the taste, and the portion. You can get to choose Appetizer size or Full meal size. I chose Appetizer size so then I can get to taste more dishes! I order Lasagna all Bolongnese, and Gnocchetti come a Sorrento (Gnocchi with Tomato sauce). M,m,mmm!! They are sooo Good! My friend ordered from a Branch menu. I believe it was a spinach saute with eggs on toast. It was soo yummy too!

土曜日は友達と一緒においしいイタリアンランチで始めました。ここ、Vivoli Cafeはめちゃくちゃおいしいと共に、お食事のサイズが選べちゃう。アペタイザーサイズとフルサイズ。私はアペタイザーサイズで２種類ぐらいパスタを選びました。そうするとたくさん味わえるからね！お得です。今回はミートソースラザニアとトマトソースのニョッキ。超超！おいしかった！友達はほうれん草のソテーとたまごがのったサンドを食べてました。どれもめっちゃおいしかったよww

And Saturday night, Meg and I went to Graficomovil Release Party. We were expecting kind of bigger party than this... but it was fun. We saw print making process of Artemio Rodriguez, and got to talk to him and taken a picture with him. This whole party purpose was raising the fund for Graficomovil which means Graphic Art on Truck, I suppose. Since I saw his art at the Art Walk a couple weeks ago, I wanted to see more his work. I love his style like the print of Maria below.




土曜日の夜はめぐっぺとGraficomovilリリースパーティへ。２週間ぐらい前にガブリエルちゃん、まき＋たけ組と一緒にダウンタウンのArt Walkへ行った時に見かけたトラックなのですが、グラフィックアートがトラック中にびっしり！私はこういうの大好きです。初めてアートを買いたい！と 思ったほどです。もちろんこのトラックではありませんが、この横のマリアのプリントのようなアート。そんなに安いものじゃないけど、ちょっとお金貯めてみようかな。

We didn't expect this to be done Saturday night so early (we left the party like within an hour...) so we decided to drive around in Echo Park. We found a couple parties and vintage shops open so we stopped by, and we found...

Stinkers Bar in Silverlake!! This is a Skunk-theme bar. I thought it was a cool funny theme bar, and Meg and I decided to stick around for a couple hours.

このリリースパーティーがこんなにも早く終わるだなんて計画していなかっためぐっぺと私はこの後、エコーパークをぐるりとドライブ。On Sunsetで２つぐらいパーティを見つけて、立ち寄ってみることに。その後、なんとスカンクがテーマのバーを発見！お友達のまきこちゃんのブログに書いてあったとめぐっぺが言うので面白うそうだと思って立ち寄ってみました。



Every an hour, those Skunks from the wall will start farting! Everyone watch out!! lol! No... it was just dry ice. hehe
It's really cool that there are full of beer cans on the wall too!

毎１時間に壁に並んでるスカンク達がぷしゅ〜〜〜とおならをします！一瞬本当にすごいにおいがするのかと思ったら、ドライアイスだった！ふー、びっくりした。壁にはスカンクと一緒にビールの缶でびっちり！これもすごいよ。

Darker My Love @ the Echo

A brand new band: Darker My Love had a free show at the Echo last night. This band brings you a some cool breeze to your music collection. Their music reminds me of Stone Roses or Beetles a bit. It got a bit of everything from each, different decades. That's what Ezura (Akiko's BF) said to me, and I had to agree with him. Maybe it's close towards to 60's and early 90's Brit Indie Rock which was influenced by 60's.

My friend, Akiko invited me to go to see this brand yesterday afternoon. While I was working, I had to see what they got. I checked on Myspace, and Playlist.com, I got pretty cool sounds from there.　


昨晩、あっこちゃんに誘われて新オルタナロックバンド「Darker My Love」をthe Echoにて観に行って来ました。
仕事中にあっこちゃんから声が掛かって来て、Myspaceや私が愛用しているwww.playlist.comでこのバンドの音をチェックしてみたところ、なんと！！いいではないですか！好き！！ということで超うきうきで行って来ましたよー。この人達の音は私の大好きなバンドの一つのStone Rosesとか90年代初期のブリットインディーロックの音を
思い出せて、超いい感じです。あっこちゃんの彼氏エズラに言わせると色んな時代の良い部分が寄せ集まっている感じだねって。確かに。と思いました。私は個人的にはStone Roeseとかを思い出させるなーって思うけど、そう言われてみるとどことなくビートルズにも似てるし．．．。でもこのバンドカリフォルニア出身みたい。

For last event on the Saturday was Ratatat at the Echoplex in Echo Park. This band is from Brooklyn, NY.
More you listen to this music, more you love them.
Their sounds is based on mostly guitar and synthesizer but they create such an unique sound from it especially guitar how they play is just soooo different that you will know immediately who is playing when you listen to their music.
As soon as I listened to their CD, I fell in love with it and when I saw them in live at Daft Punk's show, I fell in love more!

Their new album "LP3" sounds little different from the 1st album "Classics" though. It got more drum beats to it. I like "Classics" more but "LP3" got different taste so I shouldn't really compare to each other, I guess...

満喫な土曜日ラストのイベントはニューヨークはブルックリン出身の「Ratatat」のライブ。Echo ParkのEchoplexでこのショーを見ました。
多分めぐっぺだと思うけど「Ratatat」を教えてくれた時、超この音に恋落ちました。このバンドが作る音っていうのがまた超ユニークで、どのバンドでもこんな音は作らないと思います。ギターとシンセが基本で作られていますが、このギターの音がまたなんと新鮮。何度聴いても何度聴いても飽きません。
今回の新作アルバム「LP3」は前回のアルバム「Classics」と違う音を出してますが、これはこれで良い！もっとドラムのビートが効いてる感じです。ライブではRatatatの２人、助っ人のプードル頭も熱演！とても楽しかった！！

For the last moment of the night, Meguppe and I found this one cute little Vintage store right next to Echoplex. It's called "Enid & Edgar". The price of clothing, bags, and hats are soooo cheap!! I know I shopped in the afternoon, but I had to get one more dress ($16), and a cute red belt ($18)... And Meguppe fell in love with this 40's dress.
I can't wait to see when she wears this !

コンサートが終わってさ〜帰りましょと話していたのですが、あら、あんなところにかわいいビンテージ屋さんが。。。とわざわざ車を止めて立ち寄ってみました。
お店の名前は「Enid & Edgar」。オーナーのジェイソンも超いい人で、色々とお店のこと、服のこと話してくれました。めぐっぺも40年代のかわいいおしゃれなドレスを発見して、お買い上げ♪　私も昼間ショッピングしたのに、、、またブルーのドレスと赤いベルトを購入してしまいました。は〜後悔、、、もう10月までお買い物しません。
でもドレスもベルトも10ドル代だったので、、、ま、いっか？？
めぐっぺ、早くドレス着てみせてーー！
